Northford, Connecticut - Silent Knight recently introduced a new addressable fire alarm panel geared towards replacing two - five zone conventionally wired controls at a very competitive price. So far the panel has only been certified for use in the US. It competes with other Honeywell manufactured products, namely the FireLite 9050UD, and the Notifier FireWarden 50C. It has a single addressable loop and two on-board bell circuits. From the information available, it won't interface with conventional smoke modules and there's only a single one amp auxiliary power output (which might prove to limit it's usefulness in an "upgrade" situation). You can read more about the Silent Knight 5600 HERE.
It's the latest in access control and apartment intercom. Cutting edge technology includes an embedded operating system that allows customizable banners viewable on a large 15" full colour touch screen display. Voice prompts guide the user along. It's so easy to use even my wife won't have any difficulty (and she's what you call a real "technophobe"). The whole process takes only a few seconds and you're talking to the resident/tenant who can then key in the usual sequence to allow access to the visitor. You can find out more about this exciting new product HERE! We saw a demonstrator unit at Mircom's Port Coquitlam branch just after it arrived at the end of April. Expect to read a full review here shortly!
Victoria - Rich Coleman, B.C.'s Minister of Housing, recently announced changes to the BC Fire Code which affects the installation and maintenance of smoke alarms. The changes to the Code can be viewed HERE. The amendments come into effect on May 1, 2010 and will require everyone living in British Columbia to install them. We actually include the testing of smoke alarms as a part of the inspection regimen on the annual testing documents available on our FORMS page. Don't let your customers get caught "short"!
